Sisters + The West Wetlands Park

I have been what local Yumans call a “snowbird” for 12 winter seasons. The city of Yuma still surprises me every season even after 12 years.

If there is something that I can always count on, and am always looking forward to, it is the warmth, generosity and hospitality of Yumans. Barbara was no different. I was initially unsure about shooting in a location that I had never been to, but Barbara reassured me that this was one of the most beautiful spots for equestrians, like herself, and photographers, like me.

It wasn’t until a couple years ago that the childhood magic of the Castle Park at The West Wetlands Park was introduced to me and my very much park enthusiast toddler. And it wasn’t until this year, just a few months ago actually, that I experienced the full splendor of the 110-acre river side park. My mind was blown, such a dream location for everyone. Barbara was 110% correct, this location was pure photography bliss.

To add a cherry to the top Barbara’s grandgirls, as she calls them, and trusty equine, Scooter, are just gorgeous in every way. The park supplied the magic, and the mare and girls brought the sparkle.

Barbara insists that the West Wetlands Park has more to offer and explore and that I have just scratched the surface. And you know what? I wholeheartedly believe her.
